Announcing the Editor-In-Chief of Pregnancy, the official journal of the SMFM

News,

On behalf of the Society’s Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce the appointment of William A. Grobman, MD, MBA, as Editor-In-Chief of Pregnancy. Effective September 1, Dr. Grobman will oversee the solicitation, submission, evaluation, peer-review, and selection of scientific and related material for the journal, which is scheduled to launch in early 2025.

“It is an honor to be chosen, and I look forward to making Pregnancy the destination for the most innovative and thought-provoking science and commentary on pregnancy and its ramifications through the life course of the individual and within society,” said Dr. Grobman. “My vision for the publication is that it will include a wide range of topics and methodologies, including those that may not have been as well-represented in obstetric-related journals in the past, and that it will attract work from our colleagues globally.”

An internationally recognized maternal-fetal medicine expert and member of the National Academy of Medicine, Dr. Grobman is Chief Scientific Officer of the Care New England Health System and Associate Dean of Clinical Research at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. His national leadership roles have included serving as President of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Chair of the Committee on Practice Bulletins--Obstetrics for The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and a member of the Board of Directors for the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Dr. Grobman brings a wealth of experience to this position, including 14 years of service as an Associate Editor for The American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, overseeing the intake, evaluation, revision, and acceptance of manuscripts. He is also the author of over 650 peer-reviewed publications, a Section Editor for UpToDate, and an editor of Gabbe’s Obstetrics: Normal and Problem Pregnancies.
